With technology constantly evolving, your online storefront is more important than ever. If you're feeling stuck on how to update your website, here are a few things we recommend thinking about:
Having the right balance of content on your page is as important for SEO as it is for your user's experience. Try to shoot for at least 300 words per page, and remember, they don't all have to be in one spot!
No matter how much rich, compelling, SEO-specific content you have in a PDF, it can't be read by Google. Using them doesn't hurt you, but it doesn't help you either.
If you have a title tag strategy, try using those same keywords throughout your content. If you don't know what keywords to use, consider the following: what should people be searching to find you?
Talk to the customers you want
Who do you want to be listening, and how can you captivate them? For example, if you want to market yourself to people seeking adventure, you should probably use a word like "exciting", not "relaxing". Be true to your business and you will attract the customers you are looking for.
Don't leave any blanks
Most of your site visitors are researchers - they want to find a place to stay that meets all of their needs. Think about all of the questions you would have while looking for accommodations, and answer them.
Images and Other Media
Use a vector-based logo
Having a vector file of your logo means you can stretch and shrink it to your heart's content without losing any of the quality. This is especially important when working with web design.
Most of your other photos won't or can't be vectors. To give yourself some flexibility with the rest of your images, it helps if the original files are at least 1000px wide, 100ppi, and 1MB in size.
The more the merrier...
Just like with your text, don't leave your guests guessing! Help them dream up their stay with you by visualizing everything you have to offer. Take pictures of all of your amenities, what makes each accommodation type unique, etc.
... but quality over quantity.
Your images and videos are a virtual window into your business, and what your potential guests see is what they will expect. It will influence their decision to do business with you - make sure that influence is positive!
